RIO GRANDE RIDE
I said to the roadrunner well hello hon
she gave me side-eye cut a saltarello
in step with my 3-speed then turned tail to run
under the shade of a coyote willowNOTE: Five minutes from where I live, La Llorona Trail cuts through riparian brush; La Llorona (The Weeping Woman) is a well-known figure in Mexican folklore. The roadrunner—such a comical bird, largest member of the cuckoo family. And yet the roadrunner can be fierce.

I LOVE how you did the space before cut and then the abrupt line break, it feels just as sassy as that little bird.
It is a sassy little poem. So great to read today.
