dark Thursday
before sunrise
little cockle wrenched
from the heart-shaped haven
which had been our love for her
which in the end could not hold her
here among us who could not keep her

An etheree is a ten-line poem that typically begins with a line of one syllable and adds another syllable with each new line. The form is named for its inventor, Etheree Taylor Armstrong (13 February 1918–14 March 1994), a poet from Hot Spring County, Arkansas. Thanks to Alan Girling, also known as , for the inspiration of his lovely double etheree.
Sinéad O’Connor’s sixth studio album, Sean-Nós Nua (2002), features her haunting rendition of the Irish folk ballad “Molly Malone.”

May her memory bless you and all who love her, X.P.

She is the belle of Belfast City"

I love that album. What an endearing way to remember Molly.
