The first place I ever encountered “mackerel sky” was in the movie Plenty (with Meryl Streep). This might be the first time I’ve ever seen it in print. Such a great image.
The center of this poem is in the things that are seen and how they are described. The language utilized makes the reading of the poem away from clichés which is what gives this poem its good flavor. Good read!
